Precision, Luxury, and High Wages

Switzerland offers a “boutique” education experience with a student residence permit that emphasizes quality over quantity. International students (non-EU/EFTA) must wait six months after arrival before they can begin working, at which point they are allowed to work up to 15 hours per week. While the hours are lower than in other countries, Switzerland boasts some of the highest hourly wages globally, meaning students can often earn more in 15 hours than their peers in other countries do in 30. During semester breaks, students are permitted to work full-time (100%).

The post-study transition in Switzerland is highly structured. Graduates are eligible for a 6-month residence permit extension to find a permanent job. While this window is shorter than the UK or Canada, the Swiss labor market is extremely focused on high-tech, finance, and hospitality. If you secure a position that requires your specific academic background, the employer can then sponsor your work permit. Living in Switzerland also offers an incredible quality of life, central European travel access, and a safe, multilingual environment that is highly valued by global employers.
